OFF THE EARTH
DESERT ELEPHANTS
ARKANGEL
Desert Elephants
what if I told you we were sharing this dream – where our minds approve if we ever allow it to be – rolling and remote it climbed – only to create other skies of grey – and so we packed our bags and planned to make our way – being chased by the echo of clouds – what if I told you we were sharing this dream – where our minds approve – if we ever allow it to be – what if I told you that we were sharing this dream
IGNITION
Desert Elephants
a longing, a gap – it jumps and it spins – it wiggles inside her – and it is hot air and it is rivers – from the tips of the mountains right down to the soil – it runs in her deep – anyplace but here – for anyone but us – willing to take a step forward – it bubbles and it boils – to call him hers for a moment – anytime but now – for anyone but us
BEFORE THE FLOOD
Desert Elephants
FLUX
Desert Elephants
there is someone in my head but it is not me – some other me in there – someone who does not even belong to me – and he wants to come out – yes he wants to come out – and once he does, he will insult me – with his happiness and freedom – cursing me with his indisputable truths – that to exist, is to survive familiar voices making unfair choices – that to survive, is to exist in the quietest noises with a mind that rejoices
APRIL SHOWERS
Desert Elephants
in the present dark lies the biggest fear – that I am forever captured in all of those tears – for this might be – reflected in your loving eyes like april showers – I am coming down on all that is ours – for this might be a final fight
OCEAN OF GLASS
Desert Elephants
and the stars blinked – as they watched us carefully – jealous of our shine – we are diamonds among an ocean of glass
NO ARK WILL COME
Desert Elephants
the whistle of a boat – unending – so loud – the whistle of a boat – so loud – I do not remember coming here – did I come alone – my ears stay open to the sound of the ultrasound radar – scanning in familiar patterns – beneath the riff is where I sat surrounded by hybrid fish – so small – my eyes getting blinded by the searchlights flashing through the waves – inconsequential fragments, all present at once – seconds are no longer seconds – I just want to get up together – together
